Charles Martin, a member of the firm’s Real Estate + Development Group, focuses his practice on commercial real estate transactions, including the representation of clients in commercial leasing and financing transactions, joint ventures, economic redevelopment projects, and the acquisition and disposition of commercial real property.
Real Estate Transactions
Charles joined Robinson+Cole in 2001, and since then has completed hundreds of national and international transactions. He assists a range of clients, such as hospitals and healthcare agencies, restaurants, non-profit organizations, equity partners, aerospace and defense companies, real estate investment funds, municipalities, retailers, and more. Charles represents buyers, sellers, landlords, tenants, and lenders. He drafts and negotiates purchase, sale, and lease agreements, and assists clients with their real estate development efforts.
Charles routinely handles large-scale, multi-million dollar transactions, including representation of a New York based real estate fund in its purchase of an approximately $23 million office building in Greenwich, Connecticut and a related $16.5 million commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) loan. He recently represented the seller in the $51 million sale of an office building in Greenwich, Connecticut. Charles also focuses on commercial headquarters leasing, particularly in Fairfield County, Connecticut, and in New York City for corporate clients. He recently represented an investment banking firm in its New York City headquarters sub-sublease of an entire floor at 277 Park Avenue, and a financial services software company in its headquarters lease of an entire floor at 285 Madison Avenue.
Charles was listed as a Rising Star in the New York Metro Super Lawyers® list from 2009 to 2016.
