Jeanmarie Shea practices in the areas of estate and tax planning, probate, trust administration, and charitable giving. She counsels individuals and families with respect to a variety of wealth preservation issues and techniques and works with them to develop and implement estate plans designed to meet their personal goals and objectives while minimizing applicable taxes. She advises tax-exempt organizations in connection with compliance issues and philanthropic planning. Ms. Shea also has extensive experience representing both individual and corporate fiduciaries in complex estate, trust, tax, and related matters involving the probate courts, the Internal Revenue Service, the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services, and other regulatory authorities.
Ms. Shea is a member of the American and Connecticut Bar Associations, the Estate and Business Planning Council of Hartford, the Greater Hartford Probate Forum, and the Planned Lifetime Assistance Network of Connecticut, Inc. She serves on the Professional Advisory Committee of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving and the Board of Directors of the Yale Club and Scholarship Foundation of Hartford, Inc. She is an alumni interviewer for the Yale Alumni Schools Committee as well as vice president of the College Club of Hartford and serves on the club's Executive and Membership Committees.
Ms. Shea received her B.A., cum laude, from Yale University and her J.D., with honors, from the University of Connecticut School of Law, where she was executive editor of the Connecticut Law Review.
