Matthew McElroy concentrates his practice in the representation of banks, private equity funds, and other institutional investors in broad range of commercial real estate finance transactions. He is a member of the firm’s Real Estate + Development Group.
Matthew has extensive experience representing lenders and borrowers in the origination of mortgage, mezzanine, construction, and other financings secured by interests in various real estate asset classes across the country, including hotels, condominiums, office buildings, apartment complexes, ground leased properties, single tenant properties, multi-state portfolio transactions, and various non-income producing properties. A substantial portion of his practice also involves counseling lenders with respect to loan sales, purchases, and syndications, including inter-creditor and co-lender arrangements.
Matthew has assisted lenders and borrowers in the origination of over $10 billion in loans and loan commitments for projects located throughout the country. He also handles servicing matters with respect to performing and non-performing loans. His experience includes advising lenders, borrowers and equity owners with respect to debt and equity restructurings.
Before joining Robinson+Cole, Matthew was an associate in the real estate group of a New York City-based law firm. He is actively involved in the Columbia Law School alumni community.
