Connecticut’s Paid Family and Medical Leave Law (PFMLA) and the launch of the Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance Authority (Authority) has already impacted many Connecticut employers. On January 1, 2022, employees will begin receiving benefit payments for approved paid leave and critical changes to Connecticut’s Family and Medical Leave Act will take effect. The PFMLA allows employees access to paid leave for life events covered under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA), the Connecticut Family and Medical Leave Act (CT FMLA) and the Connecticut Family Violence Leave Act.
Please join Britt-Marie, Rachel and Abby for a refresher on how employers subject to the PFMLA and the CT FMLA will be impacted as of January 1, including a discussion of the employer’s role when leave is requested, the Authority’s role in wage replacement, how these laws impact the leave process, and updating leave policies.
