    Biography

    Aaron Mandel has extensive experience counseling insurers on complex coverage issues and representing insurers in coverage litigation. 

    Most recently, Aaron worked in-house at QBE North America. There, as an AVP, Assistant General Counsel, Aaron managed outside coverage counsel and oversaw the prosecution and defense of insurance coverage litigation. He also advised C-suite executives, senior management, and internal claim professionals on diverse legal issues impacting lines of business, including assisting with risk assessment and the development of claim resolution strategies. 

    Before QBE North America, Aaron worked at an international law firm, where he provided pre-litigation counseling to insurers and represented their interests in coverage litigation. Aaron specifically developed litigation strategy, coordinated discovery, and drafted dispositive motions, along with negotiating and drafting settlement agreements.

      • Defended an insurer that issued coverage in excess of an employer’s self-insured workers’ compensation program in a class action involving claims for decades’ worth of alleged workers’ compensation violations. *

      • Counseled insurers that issued third-party liability insurance policies as part of the owner-controlled insurance program for one of the largest private real estate development projects in the U.S. in coverage disputes over alleged construction defects claimed to have caused hundreds of millions of dollars in damages. *

      • Served as a key member of the trial team that defended and obtained a complete defense verdict on behalf of an insurer in a healthcare liability coverage dispute, and was responsible for drafting pre-trail, in-trial, and post-trial motions, as well as preparing witnesses for examination *
