    Biography

    Catherine Cuggino, a member of the firm’s Real Estate + Development Group, handles the full range of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, and financing transactions. She regularly represents developers, businesses, individuals, non-profit organizations, and municipalities. Catherine also provides local counsel services, including review of documents for compliance with Connecticut law, and issuance of local counsel opinion letters. Her background representing applicants before Connecticut land use agencies and Connecticut judicial authorities bolsters her transactional practice.

    Real Estate - Transactions

    Catherine has more than a decade of experience in assisting clients with their real estate transactions - negotiating, documenting, and closing real estate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions. She handles all phases of these transactions, from drafting and negotiation of the operative documents, review of title and other materials related to due diligence, to preparation for and consummation of closings. Catherine has handled both Connecticut and New York transactions, as well as transactions in other states, partnering with local counsel where necessary. 

    Financing

    Catherine represents lenders and borrowers in connection with loans secured by real estate and other assets, drafting and negotiating loan documents, reviewing due diligence materials, and preparing for and facilitating closings. Catherine recently served as an instrumental member of a team of attorneys representing the purchaser of a major manufacturer’s lighting business.

    Real Estate – Leasing

    Catherine represents landlords and tenants in both Connecticut and New York in connection with leasing and subleasing transactions affecting office, retail, restaurant, industrial and other commercial space.

    Real Estate – Local Counsel Services

    Catherine acts as local counsel in connection with out-of-state transactions, reviewing real estate-related documents for compliance with Connecticut law and issuing local counsel opinions.

    Real Estate – Municipalities

    Catherine has represented various Connecticut municipalities in acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, and easement transactions.
