    Biography

    John Fitzsimmons is a member of the firm’s Insurance + Reinsurance Group and concentrates his practice in the Financial Lines sector. In that role, John represents domestic and foreign insurers in complex coverage disputes arising under directors and officers (D&O) and errors and omissions (E&O) policies.

    While in law school, John clerked for the cybersecurity and data privacy group of a New York City law firm, where he analyzed forensics reports and compiled summary documents for the purpose of determining a client’s compliance obligations relating to security incidents and breaches. He also drafted notices to State Attorneys General and affected individuals following a data breach and researched and authored memoranda regarding data breach litigation. In addition, John served as a research assistant to two professors. His work involved conducting preliminary research assessing the effect of SEC Regulation BI on financial advisors and reviewing and editing articles in preparation for submission for publication. John was tasked with researching, identifying and annotating relevant law review articles for the pending curricula, including writing and editing scripts for video modules related to online and distance learning.

    Prior to attending law school, John served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for the office of the New York State Assembly District 79 (Bronx, NY), where he was responsible for drafting policy briefs for interviews, stakeholder meetings, and community event as well as crafting speeches, talking points, press releases, and media advisories for the legislator’s speaking engagements.
