Biography
Kurt Stiegel concentrates his practice on affordable housing and community development, with particular emphasis on state and federal low income housing tax credits and historic preservation tax credits. He represents for-profit and nonprofit owners and developers of complex, mixed-use and multi-family housing projects, utilizing creative financing structures featuring a combination of private financing, state and federal subsidy loan programs, and various tax-credit programs. He is a member of the firm’s Real Estate + Development Group.
Kurt’s practice includes real property acquisition and disposition, zoning, permitting, land use and urban planning matters. He has represented public housing authorities in mixed-finance redevelopment projects, including drafting and negotiating long-term ground leases and related documentation.
Prior to entering private practice, Kurt served as a judicial law clerk for the Massachusetts Housing Court and worked as the Research Director of the Massachusetts State Legislature’s Joint Committee on Housing.
