Biography
Peter Meggers focuses his practice on insurance coverage litigation, as well as other complex commercial litigation and appellate matters. He is part of the firm’s Litigation Section and a member of the firm’s Insurance + Reinsurance Group.
Insurance Coverage and Bad Faith Litigation
Peter represents and advises insurance companies in first-party property insurance coverage actions, including property damage and bad faith claims. He is also experienced at representing clients facing unfair settlement practices claims. Peter's background gives him great familiarity with the state, federal, and appellate courts. He has represented clients throughout all stages of litigation, including trial and appeal.
Commercial Litigation
Peter has represented numerous businesses in a wide variety of commercial litigation matters. He has tried a wide variety of cases, including defending high risk lender liability matters involving claims such as alleged violations of the Fair Debt Collection and Telephone Consumer Protection Acts. He also has handled successfully drafting and arguing appeals in commercial litigation and lender liability matters. Peter played a large role in obtaining a favorable multi-million dollar settlement in a products liability action against an international machine manufacturing company. He also has routinely represented financial institutions and companies in truth in lending, breach of contract, unfair trade practices and negligence actions.
Prior to joining Robinson+Cole, Peter was a litigator at a large Connecticut firm. He is a member of the Manchester Board of Education, and volunteers his time to organizations such as Read to a Child.
